Vina Morales says Lea Salonga asked her to audition for 'Here Lies Love'

Vina Morales revealed that it was Lea Salonga who asked her to audition for "Here Lies Love."

In an interview with PEP.ph, Vina shared that she feels grateful to Lea for being supportive as she takes over the role of Aurora Aquino.

"I am thankful to my coach, Lea Salonga. Kasi siya mismo nakatutok sa akin and she was very supportive and she was so kind to really guide me along the way hanggang na-accept ako na Aurora Aquino," Vina said.

She recalled that she was in bed when Lea informed her of the good news.

"I was actually in bed, tapos kagigising ko lang, they were like waiting for me to wake up kasi nga kararating ko lang nun from Australia," she said. "So I was tired and then they gave me the good news, talagang, 'Ha, gising ba ako?' Antok-antok pa ako."

Vina will play Aurora, Ninoy Aquino's mother, on "Here Lies Love" from September 22 to October 22.

Lea played the role from July 11 to August 13. She is set to star in Stephen Sondheim's "Old Friends" at London's Gielgud Theatre starting September 16.
