Dolly De Leon on how historic nominations changed her life: 'I've become a happier person'
Dolly De Leon has become a household name after bagging historic nominations in the Golden Globes and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs) for her work in "Triangle of Sadness."
On Wednesday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," Dolly reflected on how her life has changed with her recent achievements.
Prior to her breakout role as Abigail in "Triangle of Sadness," Dolly worked in theater and played bit roles in local films and series.
"I've become a happier person. I was really down in the dumps before any of this happened eh. I was really in a dark place before," she said.
"What happened before and who I am now, there is a gap there and there is a transition that happens."
Dolly said she experienced many rejections when she auditioned for roles. She also experienced a cattle call, where 300 actors audition for several roles on offer.
She admitted feeling sad over the setbacks she faced, but she said that did not stop her from pursuing her dreams.
"Kailangan gawa lang tayo ng gawa, laban lang ng laban and keep going to every audition kasi ang success rate talaga ng audition mababa eh," she said.
"That's the sad thing of being an actor. Rejection is part of it, we have to learn to accept it and live with it."
Now, Dolly's hard work has finally borne fruit. She just finished filming "Grand Death Lotto" for Prime Video and "Between the Temples," an independent film.
She also has an upcoming Prime Video series that will be shot in Germany in August.
