FDCP honors Vilma Santos, Dolly de Leon, more film industry talents
The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) recognized Vilma Santos, Dolly de Leon, and more film industry talents at the organization's "Parangal ng Sining" event.
"Parangal ng Sining" is the FDCP's initiative to recognize Filipino filmmakers, artists, and institutions who continue to achieve excellence, leading to acclaim at international film festivals.
Vilma received the Lifetime Achievement Award, along with Regal Films producer Mother Lily Monteverde, filmmaker and film historian Nick Deocampo, and Cinemalaya.
"With this recognition, parang nabuhay uli ang dugo ko. Parang, kaya nag-imbita ko, manood kayong pelikula," Vilma said on Monday's "24 Oras."
Meanwhile, the FDCP bestowed the Annual Achievement Award to Soliman Cruz, Martika Escobar, and Dolly.
Soliman played the lead role for the first time in his career in the Romanian film, "To The North," earning standing ovations abroad.
Martika is the first-ever Filipino director to win at the Sundance Film Festival with her film "Leonor Will Never Die."
Dolly became the first Filipina to be nominated for the Golden Globe Awards and British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) for her supporting role in the film "Triangle of Sadness."
"It feels very surreal. It feels very rewarding kasi iba rin 'yung pakiramdam pag peers mo 'yung nakaka-recognize sa trabaho. I really feel honored, so honored to be here tonight," Dolly said.
Christopher de Leon and Maricel Soriano, along with directors Jose Javier Reyes and Carlos Siguion-Reyna, also graced the event.
