Jo Koy on Apo Whang-Od’s Vogue cover: ‘This is the best Vogue cover ever’

Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy couldn’t help but commend and share Vogue Philippines’ April cover featuring Apo Whang-Od, the last traditional Kalinga tattooist or “mambabatok.”

On Sunday, Jo Koy shared the magazine cover on Instagram.

“At 106 years old[,] this Filipino icon is finally getting her flowers!” the comedian wrote.

“This is the best Vogue cover ever,” he added. “Mahal kita APO WHANG-OD.”

On the Vogue Philippines’ cover, Apo proudly showed off the tattoos all over her arms and chest, including symbolic patterns of accomplishments, ailments, and names of her past lovers.
