Apo Whang-Od exudes strength and beauty on the cover of Vogue Philippines
Apo Whang-Od is one true symbol of grace and beauty on the cover of Vogue Philippines' beauty issue for April.
The last mambabatok—or traditional Kalinga tattooist, where she taps tools into the skin—is a vision as she proudly the tattoos all over her arms and chest. She is also wearing a woven skirt and beaded jewelry.
Whang-Od talked to the magazine about her tattoos for thousands of tourists who travel all the way to Buscalan to get inked.
"When visitors come from far away, I will give them the tatak Buscalan, tatak Kalinga for as long as my eyes can see," Whang-Od told Vogue in the Butbut language.
The magazine also featured her tattoos, which range from "from accomplishments to ailments and names of long-gone lovers."
Apo Whang Od is joined by H. E. R., Alex Eala, Chloe Magno, and many more as Vogue Philippines' cover stars.
