Philippines' Annabelle McDonnell places 1st Runner-Up in Miss Charm 2023

Annabelle McDonnell, the Philippines’ bet for Miss Charm 2023, has been named 1st Runner-Up at the international pageant.

At the ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Luma Russo of Brazil was crowned the first Miss Charm queen. She won the title after competing against 37 candidates from around the world.

The 2nd Runner-Up is Olivia Tan from Indonesia.

Annabelle impressed with her performance during the coronation night. During the final question and answer portion, she was asked, “When you wake up, what do you think is the meaning of your life? What are you living for?”

The Filipina beauty queen answered, “The meaning of life is to be of help to one another. It is all about putting the community first before oneself. I've learned this growing up as an orphan and I've certainly learned this more being with all the Vietnamese people tonight.”

“I think that the purpose of my life is to be of help to one another," she added. "In the struggles of the youth, I see myself and I relate to them. And I hope with my success here tonight, they see themselves in me and they believe in themselves more because of me. Thank you so much.”

Prior to the crowning, Annabelle was a vision in her national costume inspired by Bighari, the goddess of flowers and rainbows in Filipino mythology.

Anabelle was the 1st Runner-Up of Miss Universe Philippines 2022, which was won by Celeste Cortesi. She represented Misamis Oriental.
