Kalinga eyes 2 Guinness World Records for most number of women and men dancing with gongs, pots

Kalinga is aiming to set two Guinness World Records at the celebration of Bodong Festival 2023.

According to Joanne Ponsoy's "24 Oras" report, Wednesday, a total of 3,073 men danced with gongs while in their cultural attire. Meanwhile, around 5,000 women performed with pots on their heads.

Both numbers were enough to beat the previous record holders.

Apart from setting the records, Tabuk City's information officer Aurora Amilig said the festival is also a way to let the province's culture be known to everyone in the world.

"We use the gongs and 'yung pots on the head kasi 'di ba it was a tradition noon sa mga village. It was used to carry water, to cook their food, and all," she said.

"Gusto lang i-highlight 'yung mga gano'ng practices and tradition ng Kalinga," she added.
