Instead of Traslacion, Nazareno 2023 will feature the Walk of Faith. Here’s what will happen
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Traslacion for this year’s Feast of the Black Nazarene will be replaced by the Walk of Faith.
During Tuesday’s press conference, officials said it will still serve the same purpose, which is to show devotion for the Black Nazarene.
However, the image will not be present.
Organizers assured, nevertheless, that the Walk of Faith will still have prayer, songs, and meditation. These will be led by the event’s volunteers.
“We will make sure na sa buong course ng procession, it will be very solemn and prayerful. Most of all, orderly,” Fr. Earl Valdez told GMA Integrated News.
“Gusto rin naming i-emphasize na yung talagang punto ng ating mga gawain ay para sa debosyon,” he added. “Kahit wala yung imahe, we will still be able to do this while walking.”
The Walk of Faith will happen January 8 at 1am and is estimated to last around two to three hours.
It will start at the Quirino Grandstand, going to Quiapo Church.
Devotees are allowed to bring single-hand carried images (2 feet and below), rosaries, and other small religious relics. They are also only allowed to wear transparent raincoats in case of bad weather.

Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna said among the things that they will ensure to keep everyone safe is the wearing of face masks and social distancing.
