Anthony Rosaldo joins the cast of 'Ang Huling El Bimbo'
Anthony Rosaldo received the biggest “plot twist" of his life this year — he was cast in the musical “Ang Huling El Bimbo!”
The Sparkle talent and former “The Clash” contestant will play the young Hector, one of the show’s lead characters in the April 2023 restaging.
On Instagram, Anthony shared that he first watched “Ang Huling El Bimbo” online in 2020 and said that he was so amazed by the actors’ skills.
“First time ko maapektohan ng sobra sa isang musical theater. Because of that naging silent dream ko din na one day mapabilang sa isang musical,” he said. “Little did I know, after 2 years eto ako isang fan ng ‘Bimbo,’ gaganap bilang Young Hector!”
“I’ve been praying for a break that would excite and teach me new things and eto na nga sya!” he added.
Anthony thanked Full House Theater, the production team, his loved ones, and management for their trust. He added that he has big shoes to fill but promises to work hard.
“Kahit newbie ako sa larangan na ito, I will give my 3,000%! Sobrang excited ako to work with the whole cast! Mga lodi!” he said.
“Nabanggit ko din ito kay kuya Andy bago sya mamaalam sa amin. Alam ko manonood sya sa akin always. Dinededicate ko lahat ng magiging performance ko sayo kuya! I will make you and the whole family proud!” he added.
“Ang Huling El Bimbo,” premiered in 2018 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City, featuring at least 40 of the Eraserheads’ lyrics and melodies.
The story follows a group of four friends, who navigate university life. Later on as adults, their past gives them problems with their work and personal lives.
More cast members include Gab Pangilinan as young Joy, Gian Magdangal as the older Hector, Bullet Dumas as Emman, Paw Castillo as young Emman, Topper Fabregas as young Anthony.
Auditions for the restaging were opened last July.
