Michelle Yeoh is Time magazine’s Icon of the Year

Michelle Yeoh is named Icon of the Year by Time Magazine.

Dubbed a “trailblazing actor,” the award-winning artist was honored for her range across different roles and genres, as well as for being an icon for Asian representation.

Michelle got her start by starring in Hong Kong action films in the ‘80s, and was best known for nailing daring stunts.

She made her Hollywood debut in the 1997 James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies.”

Since then, Michelle found success in films like “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”

Now 60 years old, Michelle got her first starring role in a Hollywood movie in “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which was such a huge hit that everyone says she deserves an Oscar.

“When you get an opportunity like this, you have to pour your heart and soul into it, because you don’t know when the next chance is,” she told Time in her interview. “I think that is my biggest fear: Please don’t let this be the one and only.”

In her interview, the Malaysian actress talked more about representing Asians on the global scene.

“It shouldn’t be about my race, but it has been a battle,” she said. “At least let me try.”

Aside from Michelle, Time also recognized BLACKPINK as Entertainer of the Year and Aaron Judge as Athlete of the Year.
