Andrea Torres gets emotional after meeting artist who painted her scenes as Sisa
Andrea Torres could not help but tear up after meeting the artist who painted 14 images of her as Sisa in "Maria Clara at Ibarra."
As seen in Nelson Canlas's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday, the Kapuso star thought she was simply having a sit-down interview about her Christmas plans, but Nelson prepared a surprise for her.
Andrea was visibly moved after seeing the paintings and hugged the artist behind them—Patrolman Marcus Borromeo, who was in uniform.
"Hindi ganun klaro 'yung mga linya at details kasi sa puso at isip ko kasi habang nagpipinta ako may decision at may tanong akong iniiwan ano gagawin ko next," Marcus told Andrea. "Kasi iba po talaga 'yung dating n'yo sa akin ma'am."
Andrea also met Joven Paz, a "Maria Clara at Ibarra" fan who is thankful to the series for reintroducing Dr. Jose Rizal's novels to young people like him.
The 32-year-old actress became emotional after seeing how her performance in the series inspired others to create their own works and grow curious about Philippine literary classics.
"Habang tumatagal ka [sa industry] parang may wini-wish ka na sana may maiwan akong something bigger than myself," she said.
"Parang ay ito 'yung contribution ko in my own little way," she said, becoming emotional. "Parang in my own little way nakatulong ako."
Andrea also came to see drag queen Andy Crocker, who reenacted Sisa's iconic scene in the series. The two cried and hugged it out upon meeting each other.
"Maria Clara at Ibarra" airs on GMA Telebabad weekdays after "24 Oras." It is also livestreamed at GMANetwork.com/KapusoStream.
