Dr. Martens pays tribute to Hokusai in new collaboration
Footwear and clothing brand Dr. Martens paid tribute to the work of iconic Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai with its new collaboration.
In partnership with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Dr. Martens just released shoes and bags featuring "The Great Wave" and other Hokusai works.
"Katsushika Hokusai's work transcended class structures and geographical borders. Defied elitism and engaged the masses," the brand wrote on Instagram.
"Our new collaboration pays homage to his famous work on a new canvas: the Dr. Martens silhouettes that broke the mold."
The collection was launched on Saturday, November 26.
Hokusai was a famous artist during the Edo period in Japan. He produced woodblock prints and paintings known as ukiyo-e.
