SB19, Ben&Ben win big at the Awit Awards


SB19 and Ben&Ben were the night’s big winners at the Awit Awards.

The P-Pop group received seven awards: Best Performance by a Group Recording Artist, Most Streamed Song, and Best Vocal Arrangement for their single “MAPA.” They also received Best Pop Recording and Best Dance Recording for “Bazinga” and Best Global Recording for “What?”

They also won Most Streamed Artist.

 

On the other hand, nine-piece folk band Ben&Ben got five nods. They won Album of the Year for “Pebble House Vol. 1: Kuwaderno.” Their song featuring KZ Tandingan “Sabel” won Best Collaboration and Best World Music Recording.

The band also won Best Music Video for “Lunod,” an award they share with director Jerrold Tarog, and collaborators Zild and Juan Karlos. 

Finally, they won Best Musical Arrangement for “Upuan.”

 

More of the night’s big winners include Kapuso singer Jessica Villarubin for Best Performance by New Female Recording Artist for “Ako Naman;” Zack Tabudlo’s “Binibini” for Song of the Year; and Leanne and Naara’s “Anticipation” for the coveted Record of the Year prize.

Held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City, the Awit Awards is headed by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Inc. It recognizes the best of Filipino artists and music producers. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
