National Museum of the Philippines has new two pieces in its fine arts collection

The National Museum of the Philippines has received a couple of art pieces from the Tambunting family.

The bust of Antonio L. Tambunting by National Artist Abdulmari Asia Imao is now exhibited at the Antonio and Aurora Tambunting Gallery of the museum’s Anthropology section.

While the portrait of Aurora P. Tambunting, created by National Artist Fernando C. Armosolo may be viewed inside Gallery IX’s Early 20th Century Philippine Portrait Hall.

According to the National Museum, Antonio’s son had the bust made for his father, who continued to provide financial support to Manila residents through his pawnshops amid Japanese occupation.

Like her husband Antonio, Aurora also dedicated her life to charity and church causes. She was among the main benefactors of the Ina ng Laging Saklolo Parish and Elsie Gaches Village.

The National Museum of the Philippines is open from Tuesdays to Sundays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
