New owner of Miss Universe franchise promises 'no favoritism on the Stage of Universe'
The new owner of the Miss Universe franchise, Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip, promised there will be no favoritism in the most prestigious beauty pageant.
The transgender chief executive of JKN Global Group, which acquired the franchise, made the announcement on Instagram late Sunday night.
Posting a collage of her photo and our very own Catriona Gray, Anne wrote, "Your inner transformational leadership quality and beautifully confident personality will determine your SUCCESS."
"Sorry, no favoritism on the Stage of Universe," she continued.
Writing in Thai, she said "The universe's stage is equal for everyone.... Rules are the rules ka!"
JKN Global Group acquired the Miss Universe franchise late October, with Anne saying it was an opportunity to "evolve the brand."
She also characterised the purchase from Endeavor's IMG as a "strong, strategic addition" to her company's portfolio, which includes Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, and has distribution rights for foreign documentaries, TV dramas and reality television shows in Thailand.
Shortly after announcing the Miss Universe acquisition, he JKN Global Group held a Miss Universe event in Bangkok, with Catriona Gray being one of the seven Miss Universe queens, who graced the event.
The next Miss Universe will take place in New Orleans in January. The Philippines will be represented by Celeste Cortesi.
