This Filipino-owned brand in New York has a cosmetic line inspired by Pinoy food
Makeup that's inspired by Filipino snacks? Best believe it.
Filipinta Beauty, a make-up brand based in New York, is taking inspiration from Filipino snacks like lumpia, Chocnut, and Ube Halaya in crafting shades and scents of its extensive make-up line.
In the most recent episode of "Dapat Alam Mo!," Filipinta Beauty owners Hanna Acabado-Kirkchoff and Jasel Donato shared how they came up with the idea of creating a make-up line solely inspired by Pinoy food.
According to New York-based Hanna, a make-up line inspired by Filipino food is new to the American market, giving them the signal to pursue and create their brainchild.
“Kaya [namin] napili na gumawa ng Pinoy-inspired na cosmetics is wala pa [kaming] nakikitang ganun dito sa America,” she said.
Hanna added that all their products are custom-made in terms of colors, textures, and formulas to achieve the specific Filipino food-inspired shades and scents.
Among the brand's bestsellers is the Manang Biday All Purpose Gloss, inspired by the lechon's gravy-like sauce. Swipe it on your lips and you get a subtle taste of bacon. How yum is that?
Another bestseller is the Banana Gloss, inspired by Filipinos' widely used condiment, Banana catsup. So aside from its red color, it also smells like a Banana.
Filipinta Beauty also features a Sorbetes eyeshadow palette with nine glittery shades and an Ube Halaya palette consisting of glittery and matte eyeshadows.
The brand also highlights its Chap Not Lip Balm inspired by Filipino chocolates Chocnut and Flat Tops and Lumpia eyeshadow palette inspired by '90s kids' favorite corn puff snack Lumpia Shanghai.
Sounds deliciously beautiful!
