CCP inaugurates new Black Box Theater
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) has unveiled an addition to its venues—the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez or the CCP Black Box Theater.
Located at the corner of Jalandoni and Sotto Streets inside the CCP Complex, the four-level building is equipped with customizable seating, state-of-the-art lighting, and sound equipment.
It also features adaptable rigging and sceneries, as well as advanced acoustics for that extraordinary viewing and performing experiences.
Present during the new building’s inauguration were CCP chairman Jaime Laya, CCP President Margie Moran-Floirendo, Irene Marcos-Araneta, and art patron and businessman Ignacio B. Gimenez.
Gimenez donated the theater to honor his mentor, playwright and director Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero.
The CCP Main Building, meanwhile, will be closed for two to three years starting January 2023 for renovation. Target date of its return is March 15, 2025. — BM, GMA News
