Ballet Philippines returns to CCP this September with 'Dance Here and Now—Equus, Bolero, and Other Dances'

This September, the 53rd season of Ballet Philippines (BP) makes its much-anticipated return to the grand stage of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

"Dance Here and Now—Equus, Bolero, and Other Dances" marks BP's return at the CCP after a three-year hiatus brought about by the COVID-19 lockdowns.

To herald their grand return to stage, BP held a press launch at the Pinto Art Museum, where it showcased a five-minute excerpt from their 53rd Season Gala Performance.

Artistic Director Mikhail Martynyuk said, "We prepared our bodies for the big task ahead. After we got into our best shape–both mentally and physically–we began working on choreographies and dancing. We take endurance and musicality very seriously. This is why there is no stopping us now. We are ready. We can’t wait to dance and make our way to the stage."

"Dance Here and Now—Equus, Bolero, and Other Dances" follows "Dance Where No One Else," BP's season debut in May, held in Gallery by Chele in Taguig, which also incidentally informs the Equus.

Ramona Yusay, a BP core dancer, shares returning to CCP "was a big challenge, but it motivated us to push through."

"Nung nakabalik na po kami sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam na ma-push ulit ‘yung katawan at iba ulit ‘yung feeling na makasayaw kasama ‘yung ibang dancers”, she said. — LA, GMA News

Equus, Bolero and other Dances will premiere at CCP on September 17 (Gala Night at 8PM) to 18 (2PM and 7PM).
