'The Baseball Player,' 'Blue Room' win big in Cinemalaya 2022

"The Baseball Player" and "Blue Room" both hauled several trophies in the awarding ceremony of Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival on Sunday.

"The Baseball Player" by Carlo Obispo bagged four awards, including the Best Film Award in the full length feature film category.

Tommy Alejandrino won Best Actor for the film, which also copped the Best Editing and Best Screenplay trophies.

Ma-an L. Asuncion Dagñalan's "Blue Room" notched five awards, including the Special Jury Award, Best Cinematography, and Best Production Design.

Asuncion Dagñalan won Best Director and Soliman Cruz won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film.

Meanwhile, Max Eigenmann won Best Actress for "12 Weeks" and Ruby Ruiz won Best Supporting Actress for "Ginhawa."

The jury for this year's Cinemalaya are Jeffrey Jetturian, Piolo Pascual, Maria Madonna Tarrayo, Makiko Wakai, and Frederic Auburtin.
