Dumagat tribe performs rain dance amid concerns over Angat water level
Members of the Dumagat tribe recently performed a rain dance along with other rituals near the Angat Dam.
According to a report on "State of the Nation” Monday, the indigenous people hoped to summon rainfall amid concerns over the water level at the major watershed.
Angat Dam supplies nearly 95% of the water need of Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Citing data from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the report said Angat Dam water level is at 196.29 meters.
Without rainfall, the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) estimated this to drop to a minimum operating level of 180 meters by May or July.
Consumers are encouraged to do their part in conserving water especially that the dry season is coming and we are still very much into the COVID-19 pandemic.
