Beatrice Luigi Gomez makes it to Top 16 of Miss Universe 2021

Beatrice Luigi Gomez is now one step closer to winning the Miss Universe 2021!

The Philippine bet was named among 16 semi-finalists still running towards claiming the crown during the pageant's final night on Monday.

In a short interview after her name was called, Luigi was asked about the tattoo on her sleeve. 

"It actually means 'rebirth' and 'new beginnings," she told the host Steve Harvey.

"So this is a cherry blossom, I got it on my 23rd birthday and I got it to celebrate my womanhood."

Steve was also wowed by the crowd who erupted into cheers when the Philippines was called.

"We're supposed to be in Israel," he joked.

Beatrice, who hails from Cebu City, made history in September after becoming the first openly out member of the LGBTQIA+ community to win the Miss Universe Philippines crown.

Earlier in the preliminaries, she already dazzled the audience in a sexy pink swimsuit, a red evening gown, and her “Bakunawa” national costume.
