Ilocos heritage tourism documentary film wins 'Best Film' at the 2021 Croatia Tourism Film Festival

Ilocos heritage tourism documentary film titled "Know Your Worth" won "Best Film on History and Heritage" at the 2021 Croatia Tourism Film Festival.

On Facebook, Victory Liner announced that the film they showcased last October was awarded "Best Film" in the category of History and Heritage and was also nominated for "Best in Cinematography."

The film showcases the UNESCO Heritage Sites of Ilocos Region.

"The historic city of Vigan and the baroque churches of Paoay and Sta. Maria in the Ilocos region are among a handful of World Heritage Sites designated by UNESCO in the Philippines" the caption of the video read.

Victory Liner posted the video on their 75th anniversary last October to honor the "timeless and enduring treasures, symbols and manifestations of durability, adaptability and the highest benchmarks of excellence – qualities and virtues the company aspires for and values deeply."

In the awards ceremony video posted on October 31, its film director Gabriel Malvar expressed his gratitude to the judges and organizers for giving such films a venue to be showcased.

"I’m very thrilled and very honored to be a finalist of this year’s festival, of this year’s program," he said in the video.

"I’m so glad that there are festivals like this that actually help promote tourism and specialize festivals that actually cater to this kind of film-making," he added.

Malvar said he is grateful for their films to be showcased in this venue to discuss issues pertaining to sustainable tourism, cultural preservation, and heritage preservation. —JAB, GMA News.
