At Robert Alejandro's upcoming exhibit, you can score prints for as low as P200
Robert Alejandro is set to launch a Filipiniana-themed exhibit “Art for All 2” this November at Fundacion Sansó.
Featuring a collection of 96 works, "Art for All 2" celebrates Alejandro’s career in applied and fine arts.
And celebrate it does: The Filino-themed pieces are democratically priced, ranging from P200 for limited prints, P500 for books and P5,000 for an ink sketch to P42,800 for an original botanical watercolor.
With a Filipiniana theme, the collection will feature endemic Philippine flora and fauna as well as delicate watercolors and mixed-media collages of Filipina women.
“Finally, during this pandemic, I am able to do the ‘gallery thing’—an online exhibition and sale of my art. I like the idea that someone can actually purchase an artwork of mine for 5k or less than that,” said the Papemelroti owner in a statement.
“Art for All 2,” will be launched under the museum's Art+Design=Empowerment (ADE) program, a mindful and inclusive approach to art that Fundacion Sansó launched earlier this year. Interestingly, the exhibit doesn't end by the exit. It will continue all the way to the museum's gift shop, thereby completing the design to purchase progression. What more, each ADE show has a target beneficiary that the artist supports.
Robert Alejandro will be the 3rd artist to show under the program and proceeds of "Art for All 2" will benefit Museo Pambata.
“I am also grateful that Fundacion Sansó has agreed to help me with this under their Art+Design=Empowerment program. Under this program, the artist is tasked to ‘contribute to a community. I feel we’re such a good fit—I’ve always wanted a life that is inclusive, an inspiring life,” Robert continued.
The artist gave Museo Pambata an “unrestricted grant” wherein a percentage of sales from his “Art for All 2” exhibit will go to the museum’s projects.
Museo Pambata, which the artist has worked with several times in the past and even painted a crafts room for them, was hit hard by the pandemic as school field trips comprised most of their income. Now, they are focusing on developing outdoor areas to cope with the new normal.
The launch of "Art for All 2" will be accompanied by an online video program tackling illustration, graphic design, book making, space design, hosting and teaching, as well as live children’s art workshops to be held on November 6, 13, 20, 27 and December 4, all of which will be streamed on Robert's Facebook page.
"Art for All 2" will launch at Fundacion Sansó on November 8 and will run until November 20. Online purchasing at the exhibit will be open on November 8, 10 a.m. — LA, GMA News
