Beatrice Gomez on being Miss Universe Philippines 2021: 'No words can describe the pride and honor that I’ve been blessed with'


After winning the most-coveted crown, Beatrice Gomez on Sunday took to Instagram to express her gratitude to those who played a role in her success as the new Miss Universe Philippines 2021.

On Instagram, Beatrice shared a photo of herself upon winning the title with the crown and the sash.

"BREAKING BARRIERS," Beatrice wrote in the caption of her post.

"No words can describe the pride and honor that I’ve been blessed with, from being a delegate tasked to represent my home, Cebu City, to being an ambassador and servant leader of my beloved country, Philippines," she added.

The Cebuana beauty queen said she feels "indebted to the people who rallied with me in my causes and in my journey to represent my community and to shed light in the diversity of women."

She thanked all people who "never doubted" her potential and saw the value of what she is capable of doing, mentioning her fans BEAbies, Origin Management, worldwide-recognized Filipino designer Furne Amato, Sven Chua of Origin, and her Binibining Cebu family, among others.

Bea who is also a reservist also mentioned how grateful she is to the entire Naval Reserve Center of Eastern Visayas and the 82nd Marine Battalion Reserve.

She said she is thankful to them "for giving me the platform to fulfill my passion for community development and service and for sharing with me the values and discipline of the Armed Forces."


She also thanked her Aces and Queens family for helping her prepare.

Meanwhile, she also mentioned Miss Universe Philippines organization, Shamcey Supsup, Jonas Gaffud, and Voltaire Tayag.

"Through the effort, patience, and discipline of everyone involved we were able to surpass every obstacle there was to continue the yearly tradition of celebrating the strength of every phenomenal woman in our country," she wrote.

"Lastly, all the praise to my Creator for showing me the path I’m meant to take despite my doubts and fears HE made His way for me to trust myself and to trust in His plans for His greater glory," she added.

"Gihigugma ko ang akong nasud nga Pilipinas and everything I do from this day on will be for you," she ended her note.

Beatrice made history last Thursday when she became the first openly out member of the LGBTQIA+ community to win the Miss Universe Philippines crown.

Before being crowned, Beatrice said the country was ready to send a member of the LGBTQIA+ community to the international pageant.

Last month, Cebu City candidate Beatrice shared information about her relationship with Kate Jagdon, her girlfriend of six years, during the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Interview Challenge. —JAB, GMA News.
