Miss World Philippines coronation night is rescheduled to August 8
The coronation event of Miss World Philippines, scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 25, has been postponed to August 8.
On social media, the organization released a statement saying it is rescheduling the much awaited event due to the reimposition of the IATF's heightened GCQ restrictions.
"Miss World Philippines 2021 is postponed in compliance with the new IATF guidelines given today. Stay safe and we’ll see you all on the 8th of August," the organization said.
The coronation event will still take place at Okada Manila.
Earlier on Friday, Metro Manila and four other provinces were placed under General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions due to the local transmission of the Delta Variant of COVID-19.
Under GCQ with heightened restrictions, minors — or those aged 5 years old to 17 — are not allowed to go outside their homes. Outdoor tourist attractions are also allowed at 30% capacity. Indoor dining is allowed for 20% while outdoor dining is allowed for 50%.
Staycation hotels are allowed to operate for up to 100% venue capacity while other government-accredited establishments may operate at 30% capacity. There are no age restrictions for staycations.
Apart from Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro have been placed in GCQ with heightened restrictions. — LA, GMA News
