Miss Nueva Ecija wins best in national costume at Binibining Pilipinas 2021
Candidate No. 18 Ma. Ruth Erika Quin of Nueva Ecija won the best in national costume at the Binibining Pilipinas 2021 pageant.
It was announced during the pageant’s coronation night on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Bb. Pilipinas this year employed a different strategy for the national costume competition by first presenting the national costumes of the candidates in a video presentation, and then having the public vote on Tiktok as well as on the Binibining Pilipinas website.
At the national costume show last June 27, the top 10 candidates with the most votes were announced, after which another round of public voting ensued. It lasted until July 10 (Saturday) at midnight.
Ruth Erika first wowed everyone when she showcased her national costume, inspired by the fields of Central Luzon, virtually in the video posted by the Binibining Pilipinas organization on Independence Day last month.
On Instagram, Ruth said her costume "is also a tribute to the hardworking, dedicated, and strong farmers who are the reason why we have food in our tables. Their life’s work may be underappreciated by others, but they are as important as any other profession in the world."
Four queens will be crowned in the finals: Binibining Pilipinas International, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental, and Binibining Pilipinas Globe. — LA, GMA News
