Rabiya Mateo recognized by the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles for Miss Universe stint

In her first official appearance after the Miss Universe pageant, Rabiya Mateo was recognized by the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles.

On Instagram, Miss Universe Philippines creative director Jonas Gaffud posted a photo of Rabiya looking dainty in a purple, knee-length dress done by LA-based Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino.

According to Jonas, Rabiya received a certificate of recognition from the Philippine Consulate General in LA.

"Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo in Oliver Tolentino. The Philippine Consulate General in LA recognized her efforts and gave a certificate of appreciation for representing the Philippines in Miss Universe," he wrote in the caption of his post.

On his Instagram Stories, Jonas posted updates from the fun reception, including one of Rabiya as she entered the venue and as well as a video of the beauty queen singing with Filipina singer Ivy Violan.

Indicating there were more events to come, Jonas said this was Rabiya's "first event in the US to thank the Filipino community."

Rabiya likewise posted a few more updates from the fun salo-salo on her Instagram Stories.

Later on, in her main gallery, Rabiya said, "It felt like my mini victory party."

After representing the Philippines in the pageant, Rabiya said she will do some "exploring" in the US.

The Filipina beauty queen bowed out early in the 69th Miss Universe, finishing her stint as one of the Top 21.

Rabiya hoped to become the fifth Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown after Catriona Gray (2018), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margarita Moran (1973) and Gloria Diaz (1969).

Andrea Meza of Mexico was crowned as the new Miss Universe followed by Brazil's Julia Gama as the 1st runner-up, Peru's Janick Maceta del Castillo as the 2nd runner-up, India's Adline Castelino as the 3rd runner-up, and Dominican Republic's Kimberly Jimenez as the 4th runner-up. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
