Rabiya Mateo on her Miss Universe journey: 'In my heart, I did everything I can'

Rabiya Mateo took to Instagram to share her thoughts on her journey at the 69th Miss Universe pageant.

On Monday, the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 shared a photo of her slaying the yellow two-piece swimsuit she wore at the competition.

"It was such a beautiful moment to represent you, Philippines. I am forever honored to be part of the legacy, of our history," she wrote in the caption.

"In my heart, I did everything I can," she continued.

Rabiya said she trained hard to be physically and mentally ready for the pageant.

"I made a lot of sacrifices people can't sometimes see. Early call time. Late night rest. Trying to be sane and motivated. It was a challenge but it made me so much stronger everyday," she said.

"Salamat mga kababayan! Mahal ko kayo!" she added.

She also gave a special mention to Miss Universe Philippines creative director Jonas Gaffud for helping her with everything.

"I know how much you've sacrificed for me. I love you Mama J!" she wrote.

Earlier Monday, Rabiya Mateo made the Philippines proud after earning a spot at the 69th Miss Universe pageant's Top 21.

Mexico's Andrea Meza, meanwhile, was crowned the new queen by Miss universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi.
