This letter writing cafe in Cavite is bringing back the classic way of expressing feelings

At a time when feelings are often expressed online, most people claim that handwritten letters are still the best ones to receive from their loved ones.

Dear Joe, the first letter writing cafe in the Philippines, aims to keep the tradition alive by bringing back snail mail, especially now that technology has taken over everyone’s lives.

“Parang lahat tayo ay nasa Zoom meeting, nasa digital, nasa online, even ang mga pagpasok so nagkakaroon na ng digital fatigue ang mga tao,” said Jessica Naguit, Marketing Head of Dear Joe, in Wednesday’s episode of “IRL.”

“Ginusto namin na ibalik ang pagsusulat para iba naman ang ma-experience nila at iba rin yung ganda ng live kang nagsusulat,” she added.

According to Jessica, this is perfect for those who are shy to confess their feelings to their crushes.

“Si Joe ay isang mysterious person kumbaga iba-iba siya sa iba’t-ibang mga tao,” she said.

For P50 pesos, customers will already be able to write and send their letters. The food, meanwhile, ranges from P150 to P300 pesos.

Letters will be received by the recipients within two to six weeks, just like how it was decades ago.

According to Dear Joe’s customers, their concept is “old school” yet “unique.”
