National living treasure Yabing Masalon Dulo dies at 106


National living treasure and Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan 2016 awardee Fu Yabing Masalon Dulo has passed away at 106-years-old.

According to Mark Salazar’s report on “State of the Nation,” Dulo was known for weaving for one of the Indigenous peoples of Southern Mindanao or the B'laan People.

Dulo’s grandchild said she was already felt ill and that this was brought by her old age.

She will be buried at a weaving center near their home in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

The National Commission on Culture and the Arts posted a video, "Looking back to the life and works of Manlilikha ng Bayan Yabing Masalon Dulo as we honor her unwavering commitment to the safeguarding and promotion of the country’s cultural and artistic heritage."

her wake will be held at Sitio Amgu-o, Barangay Landan, Polomolok, Province of South Cotabato, from January 27 to February 9, 2021.

Viewing hours will be from 9 AM to 6 PM only. Interment will be held on February 10, 2021. Compliance with IATF health protocols is expected from visitors. -- Joahna Lei Casilao/BAP, GMA News
