Disney makes a tutorial video on making a Christmas parol

Parol-making has been a Christmas family tradition in the Philippines for many years, and now the whole world can join the fun!

After their tear-jerking Filipino-inspired Christmas advert, Disney UK shared a two-minute instructional video on how to make a traditional star-shaped lantern.

The quick and easy tutorial makes use of 10 sticks, 5 dowels, 10 rubber bands, colored paper, string, scissors, glue, a plate and a glue gun.

Netizens all over the world were touched by Disney's 2020 Christmas advert that featured Filipino values and Christmas traditions.

The story centers on a lola whose apo seems to have forgotten the spirit of Christmas.

The two used to make Christmas lanterns or parols together every year, but the granddaughter ended up paying less and less attention to her lola and their tradition, which she so cherished.

The apo eventually realizes this as an adult, so she makes up for it by lighting up the house with parols on Christmas morning.

The simple gesture transports the old woman back to her childhood days when she spent Christmas with her family in a plaza adorned with bright colored stars. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
