Rabiya Mateo talks about the start of her Miss Universe Philippines 2020 journey in this video

Rabiya Mateo talked about the beginning of her journey as Miss Universe Philippines 2020 in a video she uploaded on Instagram.

The video montage showed Rabiya taking a run outdoors with clips from her journey to crown inserted every so often.

"Authenticity is really important especially in the field of pageantry. There's a lot of opinion of who you should become or how you should act, but a real beauty queen must stick to her core because she knows herself more than anyone else," Rabiya said in the video.

"And with that being said you will rise above anything once you be true to who you are. I am strong advocate for education simply because ever since, I saw the value of it," she added.

Rabiya shared it was her mother who would always tell her that "once you put your heart and soul to studying, you can be somebody that you want and I believe her."

"And now that I am successful, I want other people to realize the strength of educating themselves. After all the greatest investment that we can give to ourselves is knowledge," she added.

As the chosen queen Rabiya said she plans "to become the best version of myself by sticking to my core."

"Self-gratitude is something that we ought to give ourselves because we have to believe that we are capable of reaching greater limits every single day and highlights my strength because I have the confidence that there are still rooms to improve  and for me to develop and grow," she added.

Rabiya said  "a woman is empowered by the experiences that molded her to become the woman that she is today."

"I believe  that because of the problems and challenges that she had encountered in the past she was able to become more compassionate during this pandemic," she added.

Rabiya is aware that the country needs "people who are kind-hearted who are willing to offer something to the table and make the community a better place for everyone."
