Gazini Ganados farewell speech at the Miss Universe Philippines 2020
Before crowning her successor, Gazini Ganados took her farewell speech and final walk as Miss Universe Philippines.
Clad in a navy blue Cary Santiago dress with intricate silver details, Gazini was a picture of grace.
"As I walk on the stage one last time, in front of my beloved Pilipinas I look back on this incredible once in a lifetime journey I would like to immensely thank to everyone who made this possible to Mr and Mrs. Araneta for this life changing opportunity," she said.
"To my team and trainers Origin, Kagandahang Flores Cebu and Manila, to Voltaire thank you for the time and effort you shared with me; to mommy Cary Santiago for all the masterpieces for me on our journey; to my queen sisters thank you for being on this ride with me; to Mama Carmen and Mommy Marilou for being my strength and shield, to my supporters... to Mommy Jonas Borches who is no longer with us now I miss you achingly," she added.
"I am grateful for everything the universe did not only give me an experience of a lifetime it gave me family, it gave me a father, Gazan Ewamer, lastly to my fellow countrymen thank you for rooting for me despite the odds.
"To all the candidates, congratulations standing on this stage is now a vastement to how much you all had to overcome just to get here," she continued.
She ended her speech with a short message for her successor, who turned out to be Iloilo bet Rabiya Mateo, as well as a powerful note to her countrymen who are still battling COVID-19 pandemic.
"To my successor may you be blessed with a fruitful year ahead. As one nation let us all join hands as we rise together in the ashes of this pandemic, faster, better, stronger, just like a phoenix," she said.
"For the last time with the utmost pride, this is Gazini Ganados Miss Universe Philippines 2019. Daghang salamat mabuhay Pilipinas!" she ended.
