This dress from GMA show 'Amaya' is included in ASEAN Traditional Costume Exhibit in Vietnam
A traditional from the 2011 GMA-7 show "Amaya" is included in the ASEAN Traditional Costume Exhibit to be held at the National Museum of Vietnamese History in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 23.
The National Quincentennial Committee Republic of the Philippines announced the news on their Facebook page, sharing some information about the dress as well as touching on the TV show.
Worn by Filipina actress Gina Alajar for her role as Dian Lamitan in the historical epic-fiction drama series, the dress is a 16th century female Visayan noble dress.
It will be displayed with the male attire, worn by Raymond Bagatsing who played Datu Bugna in the show.
The items, according to the Facebook post, were " based on the documented attires and ornaments in the c. 1590 Boxer Codex, as well as the gold ornaments discovered in various places in the country on display at the Ayala Museum and the Museo ng Bangko Sentral."
According to the page, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and GMA Network had a memorandum of agreement to exhibit both articles of clothing, as well as body ornaments used in "Amaya."
Additionally it said the pre-colonial attires were chosen "as the Philippine entry to the said ASEAN exhibit in time for the country’s commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan, the Philippine part in the first circumnavigation of the world, and other related events in 2021."
