This couple used a 1955 Sarao Jeepney as a bridal car for their wedding

A couple who tied the knot on August 1 in Parañaque used a 1955 Sarao Jeepney as the bridal car for their wedding.
The bride Alexandra Cerezo-Pakingan, who also happens to be a YouScooper, shared that her husband's the father and grandfather used to work at Sarao Motors Inc., which is why the vehicle is close to their hearts.
"Yung Sarao company kasi was a huge part of my husband’s family’s life kasi that’s where his dad and grandfather used to work. And the groom’s family also used to own a few Sarao Jeepney’s before and used it as one of their sources for income and my husband learned to drive using a Sarao owner type jeep," Alexandra narrated of her husband, Mon Pakingan's history with Sarao.
Aside from honoring the sentimental value to their family, Alexandra said using a Sarao on their wedding day was something of a tribute to the classic Philippine jeepney and the Filipino culture. Besides, it also aligns with their Filipino-themed wedding.
Alexandra said they used the bridal car to their reception, from the church, where 10 people were allowed inside. Face masks were required, following the protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Alexandra, the hardest part of holding a wedding amid a pandemic is the absence of family members. "Siguro yung hard part din pala is yung hindi nakapasok yung mga kapatid namin sa loob ng church. Sobrang strict na 10 people lang allowed. The 10 included me and the groom, our parents, 1 set of ninong and ninang, plus the photo/video team," she said.
The couple only took off their masks for portraits after their wedding but even during the pictorial some of their family members were still not allowed to go inside the church.
Alexandra advised couples planning to tie the knot this year to accept the fact that their original plans of having a grand wedding might not push thru.
She said it was hard for the to accept it at the beginning but they later realized what really matters.
"Of course it's kind of sad at the beginning kasi syempre matagal na namin pina-plano ng husband ko to have a big celebration with our friends and family. But at the end of the day, we realized na what’s important is is our union, yung makasal kami in front of God and our parents and not a big celebration," she said.
Alexandra said they also live streamed the ceremony and reception for guests who are not able to attend which she suggested to other couples as well. — LA, GMA News
