Manila landmarks light up in red on city's 449th anniversary to honor frontliners

Several landmarks in the City of Manila were lit up on Wednesday, the 449th anniversary of the capital's founding.

These include the Manila City Hall's clock tower, Jones Bridge, the Post Office building, and the National Museum. The color red was chosen to honor frontliners in the fight against COVID-19.

The celebration on this day commemorates the founding of Manila by the conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi on June 24, 1571. — BM, GMA News
