Artist dedicates coffee art to Jose Rizal on 159th birthday

On Jose Rizal's birth anniversary, an artist started everyone's morning with a beautiful coffee painting of the national hero.

Rens Tuzon shared his coffee art on Friday on Facebook and wrote, "Sining kape at kulturang Pinoy."

"Today, we remember a great hero. Dr. José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda on his 159th Birth Anniversary, 19th of June," he said.

Rizal is considered one of the greatest heroes in Philippine history, having played a key role in the revolution that freed the country from Spanish colonizers.

The man of many talents wrote "Noli me Tangere" and the sequel "El Filibusterismo," which exposed the injustices being inflicted upon Filipinos in their own land.

Rizal was executed by a firing squad on December 30, 1896.
