This Last Supper image on wood was made while on lockdown with just sunlight and magnifying glass amid lockdown
A Grade 12 working student in Pagsanjan, Laguna was able to recreate the image of the Last Supper just by using wood, sunlight and a magnifying glass.
According to Robert delos Reyes Abilong, he started creating the wooden artwork last May 15 amid the enhanced community quarantine. While at home, he would patiently hover the magnifying glass over the wood until the intensified heat of the sun would darken certain portions.
Robert shared that it took him a week to finish due to the change in weather. Aside from the Last Supper, the student was also able to create portraits of Birheng Maria and Whang Od, the Filipino tattoo artist, just by using the sun.
While the country goes under quarantine to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Robert suggested that artists and students take the time to also be creative as well. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
