Alanis Morissette postpones shows in Manila due to COVID-19


Alanis Morissette has postponed her upcoming shows in the Philippines amid the rising cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country.

The Canadian-American singer made the announcement on her Facebook page on Monday, saying she has to reschedule her shows in Japan, Manila, Australia and New Zealand because “the safety and health of every comes first.”

The singer was supposed to hold a two-night concert at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on April 6 to 7 as part of her “Jagged Little Pill” album’s 25th anniversary celebration.

“Please hang on to your tickets (except Bluesfest in Byron Bay), details to come soon for the rescheduled shows,” she said. “Take care of yourself, of each other. I love you. XO."

On Thursday, President Rodrigo Duterte placed Metro Manila under community quarantine as the the country raised the COVID-19 threat to Code Red Sub-Level 2.

As of Sunday, the Department of Health has confirmed 29 more cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number to 140.
