The 23-year-old Filipina beauty queen shed light on her advocacy on elderly care during the 15-second speech given to the Top 20 semi finalists.
The world is aging and my grandparents raised me and I've worked in an organization that was supporting for elderly care. I learned then, I realized that there's this stigma between ageism, poverty, exclusivity and invisibility. It is the rightful for us that they are the ones who paved the way for us and we should reciprocate that love and no one should be left behind.
Gazini took the stage by storm clad in a glamorous lavender pink evening gown designed by Cary Santiago who was also the mastermind behind her national costume and dress in the preliminary.
The selection committee for the 68th Miss Universe competition are Paulina Vega, Sazan Hendrix, Cara Mund, Bozoma Saint John, Riyo Mori, Crystle Stewart and Gaby Espino.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona is still yet to turn over her crown to the next queen.
The 68th Miss Universe queen will be given a new crown called "Power in Unity" inspired by nature, strength, beauty, femininity, and unity made by jewelry house Mouawad.
Aside from Catriona, Filipina beauty queens who previously won the Miss Universe pageant include Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margarita Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969). — with reports from Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
