Stand For Truth reporter wins Political Reporter of the Year award
Stand For Truth reporter Manal Sugadol was honored with the "Political Reporter of the Year" award during The Philippine Elite Awards 2019 held on Thursday at the Crimson Hotel in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
As a pioneer Hijabi mobile journalist for the daily online newscast Stand For Truth, Sugadol was awarded during the second annual The Philippines Elite Awards for her service in the field of journalism.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Sugadol said in a text interview on Saturday that she couldn't help her tears from falling during the awards ceremony.
"This is my first time to achieve a prestigious award along with famous personalities," Sugadol said. "I am new in the industry...As a pioneer Hijabi mobile journalist (MOJO) in the mainstream media, being seen and heard is an opportune (time) to share the diversity of our country."
"This award motivated me to do better because I'm not carrying myself alone but also the identity of our community in Mindanao. My success is also their success," she added.
The prestigious award, known to name Filipino and international achievers from different sectors of society, also honored personalities such as Boy Abunda, Samantha Bernardo, and Ruel Bayani. —Kaela Malig/KG, GMA News
