The Mikimoto tiara of Miss International 1970 is up for auction this weekend
The Mikimoto crown of Miss International 1970 Aurora Pijuan is included in the 12th edition of Leon Gallery’s online auction, happening this weekend, July 20-11.
Handcrafted by Tokyo-based Japanese Jeweler Mikimoto, the tiara has an elegant design of pearl encrusted gold crown. It has a starting bid of P60,000. It can be viewed here.
In Osaka, Japan in May 1970, Pijuan became the second Filipino to be crowned Miss International.
Another highlight? A set of silver claret cups, dessert bowls, and punch-bowl goblets that have been monogrammed “MLQ,” the initials of former President Manuel L. Quezon.
There are various paintings as well, including a 2009 Jason Montinola, Fernando Zobel’s “Botijo,” and Dicher Alarcon’s rendition of the Mona Lisa.
The exhibition is now open to the public. Previews for the superb lots will be at Leon Gallery in Warehouse 14 La Fuerza Plaza, 2241 Chino Roces Avenue and at the G/F Eurovilla 1 Legazpi corner Herrera Street, Legazpi Village, Makati.
