Pop-rock band Agsunta signs off, takes down videos

Agsunta will be "signing off," the members of the pop-rock band said in a video released on their social media accounts on Wednesday.

Just four years after the launch of their music careers, band members Jireh Singson, Mikel Arevalo, Stepehen Arevalo, and Josh Planas said they have decided to stop producing videos for the meantime. They have also taken down the videos they've made over the years from their Youtube channel, where they first started gaining fans.

In the video, the band members talked about taking stock of their lives and evaluating what they wanted to do next. They also expressed how thankful they are for all the love and support they received from their fans over the past four years.

Known for their OPM covers, Agsunta became popular for their #AgsuntaSongRequests and #AgsuntaJamSessions videos. They reached over 620,000 subscribers on YouTube and over   460,000 followers, with one of their videos having 1.8 million views.

They also explained that it hasn't escaped their notice that they have also been the subject of harsh and angry comments.

They said, "Wala kaming sinabi. Wala kaming ginawa. Tumahimik lang kami hindi dahil sa tama ang galit at mapanlalait na comment pero dahil sa respeto namin sa boses ng bawat isa."

They said that after discussing and reevaluating themselves as a band, they've decided to stop.

"Kaya masakit man, at mahirap man, kailangan  na muna namin itigil to," said Singson.

He added, "Kami naman muna. It was four years of solid OPM, ilang taon ng pagsasama, at pagpapadama sa inyo ng pagmamahal naming apat, pagmamahal nating lahat sa OPM.”

They again expressed appreciation for their fans. "Wala ang Agsunta kung wala ang bawat isa sai nyo na nood at nakikinig, kung wala bawat isa sainyo na nagtiwala samin."

Whether they'll be permanently disbanding has been unclear. However, they closed the video saying, "Isa lang ang pangako namin—na patuloy kami gagawa ng musika para sa inyo hanggat may mga taong nakikinig, hanggat may mga taong naniniwala, at meron mga taong napapasaya at nagbabago ang buhay dahil sa amin." — Kaela Malig/BM, GMA News
