1 million bulbs light up Ayala Avenue’s altar-themed Christmas display

Ayala Avenue in Makati City has been lit by about one million LED bulbs for the Christmas season.

In a report by Susan Enriquez aired over “24 Oras,” Christmas lights arranged to form the altars of five Catholic churches were turned on Monday night along the length of the avenue to signal the start of Yuletide festivities.

The altars replicated were those of Sanctuario de San Antonio Church in Makati; San Miguel Archangel Parish in Cebu; Molo Church in Iloilo; Immaculate Conception Church in Jasaan, Northern Mindanao; and San Sebastian Church in Manila.

Also featured in the exhibit of lights are the symbols mentioned in the song "12 Days Of Christmas," including drummers, swans, french hens, and turtle doves.

“We want it to be bright and beautiful kaya namin dinamihan ang lights. We want them to be more attractive,” said designer Zenas Pineda.
