Lea Salonga to star in film musical ‘Yellow Rose’ with fellow ‘Kim’ Eva Noblezada
Lea Salonga will be starring in a musical drama film alongside a young actress who, like her, has also been acclaimed for playing the role of Kim in "Miss Saigon."
According to a report by US theater magazine Playbill, the film "Yellow Rose" has been in development for 15 years and is under the helm of Filipino-American documentary film director Diana Paragas.
The story follows Rose, a 17-year-old Filipino-American teenager who lives in Texas and dreams of becoming a country musician, but is forced to choose between going for her dreams without her mom or giving up her passion.
Eva Noblezada will play Rose, while Salonga will be featured as Rose's aunt Gail.
The star confirmed the news on Twitter.
"This is actually happening! (To be totally honest, Eva does most, if not all of the heavy lifting. I’m just happy to be a small part of this effort!)," Salonga said.
