Eid al-Adha celebrated in PHL and around the world

Brothers and sisters of the Muslim faith began Tuesday in prayer as they celebrated Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.

Eid al-Adha is considered the holiest festival in Islam as it honors the sacrifice Ibrahim made before the intervention from the divine. Ibrahim obeyed Allah's command to sacrifice his son and in exchange, Allah rewarded him by offering a cattle to slaughter instead.

In a similar fashion, well-off Muslims typically round-up cattle to slaughter and they share the meat with those in need.

According to a report by Marisol Abdurahman for GMA News' Balitanghali, it fulfills the Muslim virtue of sharing as well as the virtue of gracious acceptance of help from your brothers and sisters.
