Skip crowded beaches, breathe art in Angono
Beaches and countrysides are not the only sights to see this summer.
Angono, Rizal is called the Art Capital of the Philippines for a reason. Aside from being the hometown of two Filipino National Artists, painter Botong Francisco and composer Lucio San Pedro, the entire town lives and breathes art.
It makes for a perfect, quiet getaway if you want to skip the raves and crowded beaches.
GMA News' Brigada toured the town to see what it has to offer.
One of the museums in Angono is the Blanco Family Museum, which displays artwork by seven Blanco siblings. Hanging from the walls are paintings of the siblings since they were young until they developed their skills.
Another place tourists must visit is the home of the late Botong Francisco, which has been converted into a museum that's being cared for by his grandson Totong. It highlights the work and achievements of the great artist.
However, it's not just the museums that are on display. Angono is one big gallery available for viewing. There are the roads that bear patterns, there are statues that stand tall in the streets.
But more important are its people that have embraced the town's heritage and keep it alive throughout the years. —Jessica Bartolome/NB, GMA News
