For the uninitiated, but curious, "Buffet of Sounds: Sonic & Visual Fest" includes an Artist Talk at the NCCA Gallery in Intramuros. Admission is free and the discussion will be led by Salvador himself. Joining him are Tad Ermitaño, Toshiyuki Seido, Jon Romero, Cris Garcimo, and Stanley Castelo.
According to the NCCA, "the objective is to present the educational aspects of improvisation and experimentation by using the exchange of knowledge through artistic related to the show."
An artist known to break boundaries, Salvador has been a familiar presence at gigs where experimental and electronic music is performed. He makes instruments from bicycle parts and other scrap metal which he both performs and displays. His "sculptural assemblages" have been exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum, the Drawing Room and other venues.
He is most popularly known for his "Sandata" series of playable art sculptures, some of which were recently sold by Christie's auction house in Hong Kong.
The Artist Talk will be held on February 22, 2 pm. Admission is free and seats may be reserved online. "Buffet of Sounds: A Sonic and Visual Feast in Honor of Lirio Salvador" runs at the NCCA Gallery until March 2, 2018.
