Which Netflix series was binge-watched the fastest in PHL?
Online streaming platform Netflix has popularized everyone's new favorite hobby binge-watching, but now, this relaxing activity has taken a competitive turn.
Hardcore fans whose passion in life is to consume as much TV as possible are now participating in "binge-racing", which Netflix define as "speeding through an entire season within 24 hours of its release and to be the first to finish."
From 200,000 in 2013, there are now 8.4 million binge-racers across the globe.
“There’s a unique satisfaction that comes from being the first to finish a story — whether it's the final page of a book or the last, climactic moments of your favorite TV show," Netflix Vice President for Original Series Brian Wright was quoted as saying in a statement shared with the press.
There's that...and being the first to finish something also means you won't have to worry about reading spoilers.
"Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" came out on top of the global Binge Racing list, but it only ranks second in the Philippines.
The series most Filipinos sped through watching within 24 hours of its release is none other than "The Defenders", which premiered on August 18. The show unites the leads from four other successful Netflix series and it could mean that the Filipino audience is holding out for a hero.
