Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett had "incredible fun" playing Hela, the main antagonist in "Thor: Ragnarok."

Blanchett has the distinguished honor of playing the first female villain in a Marvel film and director Taika Waititi is pleased with the result. "Cate has destroyed the idea of your typical villain," Waititi said.

The best part of being this "goddess of death"? Getting to beat people up, Blanchett revealed. That and throwing axes, which is her character's main power. Hela has the ability to unleash unlimited weapons in astounding and deadly ways, which she will use to take over Asgard.

"I think the best villains are those that you kind of love and hate what they do, but you sort of understand it. There's a logic to it," Blanchett said.

Waiti added, "She’s got a lot more going on than some of the more typical villains that you see in these kinds of films. She’s not just about taking over the world or owning the universe; she wants something that I think a lot of people can relate to—recognition."

"Thor: Ragnarok" picks up where "Avengers: Age of Ultron" left off, with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) imprisoned in a different universe and separated from his hammer.

Hemsworth and Blanchett are joined by om Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.

"Thor: Ragnarok" opens in Philippine cinemas on October 25. — AT, GMA News
